Last Monday, July 12, we traveled to Utrecht in Shiba again for final check. Shiba was happy to practice within. Incredibly, she has no fear built up at the vet. Both elbows have been extensively investigated again, stretching, inward and outward bending. Shiba did not hurt. However it is occasionally still crippled, but the doctor told us that over time will be about. Shiba has a swelling on her left leg, but this is not from the elbow and should be automatically transferred. What a relief!! It is quite good with our girl. Painkillers and sedation are put in the closet. Shiba can become animated and even more occasionally Wantu play again.

Dear all people thank you very much for the lovely emails and phone calls.
Also congratulations to the breeder of Shiba, so she has sympathized.

Today we removed the bandage from the front paws, the wounds look fine. On 10 June we'll take Shiba to Utrecht for a check-up.

After a call today we planned another appointment with doctor Scheepens. It
seems that the screw in Shiba's paw had split. Both screws have been removed
together with the non-fixated bone. The same procedure was performed on Shiba's
left joint. The lpc in both front paws seems alright. Shiba doesn't need to be
operated on that. After a 3-hour operation we could take our little girl back
home with both front paws bandaged from top till bottom. We, Raymond and
Henriette, are devastated. In a short period of time three times under
anaesthetics. Now Shiba is restricted to a 6-week period of convalescence in the
bench.

Next to
her antibiotics Shiba also has painkillers and tranquillizers to keep her quiet
during the day. How can you keep a pup quiet with Wantu under the same roof.

Doctor Scheepens from the Vet Clinic in Utrecht has operated Shiba on her right paw today after a thorough evaluation of X-rays. As the bone is not floating he has inserted two screws. He didn't notice any lpc. After two weeks we had to come back for a check-up and then the left paw would follow suit. However, after a week and a half Shiba was clearly in pain.
Today we had Shiba neutered. The operation went well. The following day we didn't notice anything in particular about Shiba. Because Shiba had been limping with her left paw and she had to go under anaesthetics anyway we had some X-rays made. The results weren't good. The vet thought something had been broken or torn but after consultation with a radiologist the diagnosis was ED. A few days later we had X-rays made from her right paw. The diagnosis was ED too. The vet thought both LPC and LPA. At the same time X-rays were made from both hips to make sure they were OK. Thank goodness there was no HD. Urgently we were sent to doctor Scheepens at the Vet Clinic.
Wantu celebrates his 2nd birthday. Hurray for our boy.![]()
